Natural Treament for Dry Skin
Dry skin has no permanent cure but the skin can be softened and made smoother by using a few remedies. Most popularly, lotions and creams are used to soothe the dry skin. Using a mild soap or a cleansing body wash might eliminate the problem temporarily. However, this option can turn out to be pretty expensive if the skin is genetically dry or just exceptionally dry. Certain remedies can be used to soften the dry skin right at home.
Remedies:
1. First, drink water. Water is an antioxidant and hydrates the body from inside and out. It remedies dryness in its own mild way and excretes wastes and hazardous chemicals like urea, excess salts and other chemicals from the body. It plays a vital role in moisturizing skin.
2. If your palms turn rough due to hard work and excessive drying of the skin, it would be more advisable if you would apply into the affected part a mixture of lime juice and coconut oil. Doing so would greatly and effectively scrap dry skin.
3. Honey, a dry skin natural remedy, is a substance that is healing to the skin. When applied to the skin it is healing and moisturizing. It helps dead skin cells move from the surface and stimulates renewal and re growth of skin tissues. It is also antibacterial. In severe cases, you can put honey on skin that needs a bandage. It will keep the bandage from sticking to the wounded skin.
4. Avoid using anti-aging products that are chemical based. If you really need to use a product as a home remedy, you should choose products with natural ingredients such as Cynergy TK, Coenzyme Q10, Phytessence Wakame and manuka honey. These are very potent ingredients that are not only helpful in keeping your skin moisturized, they actually help the epidermis improve its water retention capacity. Thus, the result is a well moisturized, softer, and more supple skin.
5. Silicone creams – If your dry skin is caused from frequent hand washing or harsh work conditions, a cream that contains silicone might be your best bet. The silicone is water resistant and forms a barrier between your skin and the elements.
6. In order to reduce the dryness of the skin, massage therapy must be used. Any herbal oil will do for the massage. Almond, avocado and olive oils are the best. The whole skin must be massaged and fingers must be used to dig deeper so as to pass the oil into the skin. After the massage, you must wait for about half an hour (keep the massaged skin exposed to the air if possible) and then go for a bath. The period helps the oil to permeate into the skin.
7. Olive or almond oil and egg yolk can also alleviate dryness. Mix one yolk in a tea spoon of olive oil and add rose water and apply this mask on your skin. Leave for 15 minutes and wash with a face wash.

Skin Care for Dry Skin
Although most people think they have normal skin, very few people are lucky enough to have normal skin. Most people have dry skin, oily skin or a combination skin type. Oily skin is usually easy to identify. Dry skin, however, is sometimes more difficult to recognize. Many of us have dry skin and aren’t even aware of it. Skin care for dry skin is very important in keeping our skin looking and feeling healthy. Many times our daily routine leads to us developing dry skin, but we don’t realize it until it’s too late. In situations like this, the individual tries to correct the dry skin after the fact when it’s more difficult.
One example of skin care for dry skin is avoiding overexposure to the sun. While everyone loves to look tanned in the summer, sitting in the sun too much can cause many problems, the least of which is dry skin. Skin cancer is a real risk from overexposure to the sun’s rays. Overexposure to the sun may not show up in our skin immediately, but does over time. Premature wrinkles and aging is a consequence of too much sun and tanning. Usually by the time the individual has reached this point, it’s almost too late to start practicing skin care for dry skin. It’s never too late; however, preventing it is much easier than trying to cure it.
Many people have dry skin even without spending time in the sun and need skin care for dry skin. In some cases, dry skin is hereditary or genetic. The most common places on the body for dry skin are the hands, shins and sides of the abdomen. Dry skin is more common in the winter because the humidity is lower. When people get older they also suffer from dry skin because of the changes their bodies go through naturally with age. This is especially true with post-menopausal women whose bodies are no longer getting the necessary hormones they got when they were younger. For these individuals, skin care for dry skin is almost a necessity. Without proper skin care for dry skin or treatment, the dry skin can lead to dermatitis, which a more serious inflammation of the skin.
Although there are a variety of different products you can get for dry skin, there are also preventative measures you can take at home. Try taking warm baths or showers as opposed to hot because hot water can dry out your skin. You may want to lessen your showers to once a day and no more than 5 to 10 minutes. Use a body or hand soap that contains moisturizing ingredients or apply a moisturizer to your body right after you dry yourself from a shower or washing. You may also want to use more moisturizers in the winter. While these at-home methods of skin care for dry skin may not cure dry skin, they are a big help.
